HEROES LIKE PAUL
1 Thessalonians 2:1-2:12 “CONFIDENCE in CRISIS” Living Life on the Line, while Standing on the Dot!
There is something inside your being that wants to be uniquely heroic in your faith.
G designed you to be as much a hero of the Christian faith as Noah, Abraham, Moses, Peter, Paul or John. But, most Christians live well below their potential to soar...
True heroes are people who live on the “dot” but live for the “line” Paul was one of those guys who lived on the dot but who lived for the line. As we look at Paul - I want you to note the characteristics of a true Christian hero by what they are not.
☻ HEROES ARE NOT AFRAID TO _______________ THE ____________________.
We had previously suffered and been insulted in Philippi, as you know, but with the help of our God we dared to tell you his gospel in spite of strong opposition. (2:2)
Heroes are going to face opposition.
☻ HEROES ARE NOT ________________ PLEASERS - “We are not trying to please men but God”
(2:4b)
☻ HEROES ARE NOT _________________ MEN - “Nor did we put on a mask” (2:5)
☻ HEROES ARE NOT IN IT FOR THE ________________ - “We were not looking for praise from men.” (2:6)
☻ HEROES ARE NOT ROUGH _________________
As apostles of Christ we could have been a burden to you, 7but we were gentle among you, like a mother caring for her little children. ( 2:7–8.)
☻ WHAT THEN IS A HERO?
We loved you so much that we were delighted to share w/ you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well, because you had become so dear to us. (2:8)
The KJV, uses the word “souls” in place of the word “lives”
True heroes are those who share their lives and their souls with others.
