WHAT PARENTS WISHED THEIR CHILDREN KNEW

TEXT: II Timothy 3:16-17; Luke 12:55-56 – various

Now, I want to give you a simple way to make the word of God come alive for your children...

When a teacher says “what a good student, or when a coach says “what a great player” it makes you proud as a parent for your child.  Shouldn’t our main goal in preparing them for the future be to have God say, “well done good and faithful servant?” 

I wish my children knew the importance of G__________  W___________ for their lives.

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work (II Tim. 3:16:17)

Two facts about the WORD

1) It’s Inspired - All Scripture is God-breathed

2) It Equips you - so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work

3) It is Useful for four things

First, it is useful for “_______________” “reproof”  “correction” and “_______________”  (Notice the cycle)

I wish my children knew that God has a plan for their lives.

Jesus once told the Pharisees: You fools! You know how to interpret the weather signs of the earth and sky, but you don’t know how to interpret the present times. (Luke 12:54-56)

If you are going to take your child through the Bible - do it using the “Sign Method” 

The Bible starts with C_________________________

I wish my children knew they were made in the image of God

God provided _________________________ AND RULES to follow so that we would… STOP SINNING

We needed to stop sinning and __________________ TO HIS WILL..

I wish my children knew that baptism (immersion) was essential.

...and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also. (I Peter 3:21)

And if we are not born again, we end up at a DEAD END.

But even going in a wrong direction, G gave us a D__________________

And this detour led directly to the CROSS.

But the Bible teaches us that not everyone will chose this detour and that it is a N_______________ROAD

I wish my children knew there were some bad people in this world

Do not be mislead; bad company corrupts good character. (1 Corinthians 15:33).

We must also remember that if we choose this road that we are not promised a simple life.

We still may encounter many C____________________

But if we listen to Jesus, He will make sure that we don’t go where we are not supposed to.

I wish my children knew the hell was hot and eternity was forever.

So we need to learn to SHARE THE ROAD  by sharing our faith.

Hopefully, as we stay on this road, we will discover that Jesus is the ONE ____________

Jesus said: “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.  No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)
