GIVE THE BEST OF YOUR LIFE FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE – “I Wish My Grandparents Would”

Grandchildren are the crowning glory of the aged...  (Proverbs 17:6)

Three things you can give your grandchildren.

When you don't have money, resources or time to give your grandchildren…

I.                    GIVE THEM A BLESSING

THREE THINGS GRANDPA JACOB SAID TO THEM

1.      Grandpa Jacob gave his testimony to his grandsons. "G Almighty appeared to me at Luz in the land of Canaan and blessed me" (Gen. 48:3).

2.      Grandpa Jacob told them about the promises of God . 

"Behold, I the Lord will prosper you in all that you do, I will give you many children, and you will become a great nation. I the Lord promise this land to you—a promise land—that you shall inherit this land for an everlasting possession" (adapted from Gen. 48:4)

3.       Grandpa Jacob told them about their grandmother.                                               He said, As I was returning from Paddan to my sorrow Rachel died in the land of Canaan while we were still on the way, a little distance from Ephrath. So I buried her there beside the road to Ephrath" (that is, Bethlehem).  (Gen. 48:7).

II.                    GIVE THEM THE THINGS YOU WISHED YOU WOULD HAVE GIVEN YOUR CHILDREN

Maybe some of you are thinking - man I did a terrible job raising my kids.

God can give you a second chance with your grandchildren. Look at Naomi.

"Then the women said to Naomi, 'Blessed be the Lord, who has not left you this day without a close relative; and may his name be famous in Israel! And may he be to you a restorer of life and a nourisher of your old age; for your daughter-in- law, who loves you, who is better to you than seven sons, has borne him'" (Ruth 4:14, 15).

☻Naomi became the primary care giver

The Bible says, Then Naomi took the child, laid him in her lap and cared for him. (Ruth 4:16).

       ☻The child Obed would become famous in Israel. 

                  ☻The child gave grandmother Naomi a purpose in life .

         III.         GIVE THEM THE SCRIPTURES

There’s no better way to influence the world and future than by teaching a grandchild the Scriptures.

I have been reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also. (II Tim. 1:5)
